MuséoSeine

The museum is accredited by Musée de France and immerses visitors in the history of the river, its people and its landscape.

Situated between Rouen and Le Havre at the confluence of the river proper and its estuary, MuséoSeine has made itself part of the cultural, heritage and tourist scenery of the Caux-Seine Valley Region along with other gems such as the Gallo-Roman remains, chateaux, abbeys, manor houses, museums and the Boucles de la Seine Normande Regional Nature Reserve.

MuséoSeine overlooks the Seine from its place on the river’s edge at Caudebec-en-Caux. With its original design, contemporary layout and use of innovative technology, MuséoSeine is made up of different interactive environments and features which tell the river’s story in a way that renders it accessible to everyone.

During the tour, interesting characters will tell you about day to day life in some of the more notable places in the region of the river. Archive film and photographs, activities and educational workshops are also used to illustrate the museum’s main themes of the tidal bore, river-pilotage, leisure time and the Seine.

There’s a diverse collection of articles on display from boats and navigation equipment to votive offerings and Gallo-Roman artefacts amongst others.

All year-round, there is a rich and varied program on offer, including events for children, lectures on artworks, novel museum tours, Sunday family days and much more!
